CARBOPA is Alkylating Agent, Platinum Analog, A systemic antineoplastic Agent This platinum co ordination complex hydrolyzed intracellularly to produce a highly reactive moiety, which causes cross linking of DNA at the site of N7 of guanine residue. It can also react with -SH groups in proteins and has radiomimetic property. Absorption- Rapidly absorbed after intravenous administration Distribution- Widely distributed to the body water. It does not bind to the plasma proteins. The metal platinum in the drug after degradation bound to the plasma proteins (87%).
