C-ROME is A semisynthetic Fourth Generation Cephalosporin antibiotic, Parenteral antibiotic. Cefpirome is a 4th generation cephalosporin which exerts its bactericidal action against both gram positive & gram negative organisms by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. Cefpirome inhibits the synthesis of polymer peptidoglycan of bacterial cell wall. Due to its zwitterions character it has better penetration through the porin channels of gram negative bacteria & it is more resistant to beta lactamase & rapidly binds to penicillin binding protein.
